I think it was Maya Angelou who said, when people show you who they are believe them. Really, BELIEVE THEM!

I am not saying that people cannot change. However,  change requires work, discipline and a commitment to make that change. There are people who make the commitment and do the work and achieve this, but sadly the majority do not.

It is never what a person says, because words are meaningless, it is the actions that follow that make words powerful.

If someone is constantly telling you one thing, but their actions are contrary to their words, believe them. Stop making excuses or lying to yourself believing that they will change. Accept that they are who they are. You cannot change another adult, you either accept them as they are or move on.
